Burr's laptop challenge

My name is Burrfoot and I am a pokerholic.. here lies my diary of woe.... its gone through some changes since it first started but the basic principle is still there... ive had a wee break from the poker sites for a couple of weeks, first to reevaluate my play from hand history (still ongoing - a strategy template to follow in due course), then due to site movement.. then due to some b'stard stabbing my father... but he is now ok and I have managed to sto myself seeking the first-born of the prik that did it.. so Im back..

Id say im a a long term losing player, but never been that bothered about that cos I play for fun and get the odd result to keep the ego happy. However I want to buy a laptop/notbook thingy and she who must be obeyed says I have to win the money, hence this little challenge!

There are many reasons why I dont make profit: lack of concentration, alcohol, dont bet/raise enough, any time i build a half decent bankroll I move up several levels and blow it in an hour etc etc

My hope is by sharing my humiliation, it might force me to stay focused and abide by some simple rules...

I plan to play on Ladbrokes (mainly because they are what I know best and have notes on a few players). Two tables at a time. One being a 6 seater .02/.04 cash and the other a $5 5 pays 3 STT to keep it interesting.

For the cash at that level I have noticed that enough players will call most raises pre-flop to significantly increase the chances of being muffed and also they like to allin bluff on the turn or river. Therefore I will play a general TAG style, raising pre with premium hands and mix my play up on the streets. Post flop play doesnt seem as strong and I dont raise enough, so I intend to experiment with min raising any C-bets on flop with a view to either bluffing turn (not very often!), or with drawing hands, as it usually results in free turn and river cards, or with strong hands and keep betting, or folding to big shows of strength....

For the STT I have a very simple strategy: ultra TAG till Im in last 3 (paid) then ultra-ultra LAG thereafter (blind levels will dictate whether this will be loads of allin bets or x4+ BB bets).

I will also play a private STT on Mondays and Thursday where I will get very drunk and go allin with Q9

Im going to record day/date/time/length of sessions. Results of STTs and opening/closing balance. Identify Fish/Sharks. Try to identify betting patterns and timing tells of others and lose my own. Find a learning outcome after each session and analyse my play.....

Im am starting with £31.87 and the target figure is £300.

Hopefully by next Christmas and after buyins worth more than the target figure, I might reach my goal
